The Waterfall (Recount) 31/05/2026

                                         The Waterfall

The soft trickle of water brought music to my ears. I chuckled at the sight of my little brother stumbling over a mossy log. "Come on, John!" I called. "O-okay," he whimpered in reply. I shook my head. That wasn't going to work.

Soon, I was dragging him along the muddy path to the top of the waterfall. His expression was terrified, but I could spot a little twinkle behind his eyes. Suddenly, he stopped, and I, unaware, tumbled into the mud headfirst. EWWWW!

Once I turned my body over, I saw my brother offering to help me up. I gladly grabbed the opportunity, and he pulled me onto my feet. "You look...ugly," he told me. "Thanks," I grumbled.

Thunder rumbled as we continued along our treacherous path. Finally, we reached the top of the mountain. "HELLO?" I shouted into the sky. Only the growling thunder answered me.

"Ready to go back down?" I asked my brother. He didn't answer. His eyes were distant, gazing over the wilderness. But then, his foot landed on a stone, and... he toppled down the mountain. "Stop!" I cried, but he couldn't stop or didn't hear me. Actually, both seem likely.

I ran after him, but soon I tripped over too, and was soon gaining speed. I wondered what we looked like from above. Probably like cucumbers rolling down a slide.

We reached the bottom after what felt like an hour. "Phew," I said in relief. "That was so fun!" my brother told me, smiling. "Yeah," I agreed.

That was super cool!
