BOOK ONE

Chapter 1 :The surprise gets spoiled

“Okay everyone, time for bed,”Mum called out.”Aw man, why can't we watch TV with you?”Ruby asked. ”IT’S YOUR BIRTHDAY TOMORROW!”Mum shouted,spoiling the surprise.You see, Mum had made a plan to surprise Ruby on his birthday. But now, it was truly spoiled.”HEY, YOU RUINED THE SURPRISE!” Gerny shouted. ”Oops,”Mum said. ”Now, now, what’s all this fuss about?”  Grandma asked. ”Yeah, what is all this fuss?” Grandpa asked as well. ”Nothing,”Mum said.”Oh,”Grandpa said.”Very well, back to sleep”. ”Children, go to sleep already!” Mum whispered.”Okay,”the children whispered back.But as they were sleeping,a monster went toward their bedroom window…

Chapter 2:The monster!

At midnight Dick woke up. He didn’t know why. He checked the window before heading downstairs, and that’s why he was the first one to see the monster.

“Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!”he screamed. “What’s going on?” asked Anne, sleepily. “There…there…there was a monster!” Dick stammered. “What!” said Anne, sitting up straight. ”What’s going on here?!!”

Julian asked. ”Dick saw a monster!”Anne said, getting up.And she was right.The monster was still peeking through the window.``Whoa,”said Julian.”I’ve never seen something so colossal.”

”I know!” said Dick. “Shall we tell Mum?” “Yeah,”Anne said, nodding her head.

The three of them went downstairs to tell Mum about the monster. But before they could reach Mum, Clank!...

Chapter 3:The BIG surprise!

“What was that?” said Julian. “I think it was that monster!” said Dick. ”HOW!” “HOW DOES  A MONSTER BREAK THINGS!" said Julian. ”Come on, let’s go up!”said Anne.”Okay!”said Dick and Julian at the same time.So the three went upstairs.

They came to a BIG surprise!There were shouts and screams from the bedroom.”Anne!” “Try reading the name of that thing while Dick and I fight it!” “Okay!” “D…R…S…C…U” “Hurry up Anne!We don’t have much time left!And M.Dr.Scum.”BOOM!The monster went away.

Chapter 4:Ruby’s birthday gets in the way

“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”cried everyone when Ruby came downstairs.”We will have a fun breakfast and we will celebrate Ruby’s birthday in the evening.” Dad said.”HOORAY!”shouted everyone.They all had pancakes for breakfast and then went to school.In school, everyone said “hi”to them since they were the nicest.”Hi Gerny!” “Hello Ben!” “Hello Ruby! Is it your birthday today?I think it is.”DAN DAN DAN DAM DAN DAN DA DAN DAN! “Oh well, there goes the music.”said Ruby.”See ya later!”So they went to class.They had the role.Then they had maths.In maths, Dick had a problem with maths question since he couldn’t understand it.How do you do this?he thought.You may have thought he couldn’t do it, but he did.”Finally,”Dick said.”That was so hard!”At morning tea, he talked with Julian.”Hello Julian,”Dick said.’I have a question for you.What is…twenty five times twenty five.” “That’s er…two hundred and twenty five?”said Julian.”Wrong!” said Dick.”It’s six hundred and twenty five!” “HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!”laughed Dick and his friends.”A twelve year old doesn’t know what twenty five times twenty five is!”said one of Dick’s friends, in a babyish voice.After that, they went to class.Julian was angry.He told his friends how Dick and his friends laughed at him.”Let’s ask Mrs Danny a maths equation Dick doesn’t know.” said one of Julian’s friends. ”Great idea!”    exclaimed Julian. ”We can ask what one hundred and thirty two times one hundred and thirty two is.” 

Chapter 5:The trick

“Mrs Danny,”Julian asked.”Do you know what one hundred and thirty two times one hundred thirty two is?” “Hmmm,let’s check the answer on the calculator,”said Mrs Danny.”I’ll be back in a sec…”And she went off.Once she came back, she said,”The answer to that is seventeen thousand, four hundred and twenty four.” “Thank you Mrs Danny,”said Julian.Then he ran back to his friends.”I’ve got it!” he said.”It’s seventeen thousand, four hundred and twenty four!” “HOORAY!”said his friends, quite quietly.Meanwhile,Dick and class were outside doing some skipping.But Dick heard what Julian said and then got the answer.At lunch, Julian asked the question.”Dick, do you know what one    hundred and thirty two times one hundred and thirty two is?” “Er…seventeen thousand, four hundred and twenty four?”said Dick.Julian and his friends were stunned.They didn't expect Dick to know the answer.”How…how did you answer?”a stunned Julian stammered.”I heard you,”Dick responded back.

DAN DAN DAN DAM DAN DAN DA DAN DAN!”See ya later!”Dick shouted.At the end of the day, Mrs Danny had an announcement.”Guess what guys,”Mrs Danny said.”YOU…HAVE…HOLIDAYS!” “HOORAY!”cheered everyone.Ding Dong Ding Dong Ding Dong !The bell rang! “Happy Holidays, Mrs Danny!” shouted everyone before quickly heading out the door to get their bags.”You too!” shouted back Mrs Danny.

                                                               Chapter 6:Holidays                                                                                                                                                                                                   “Mmmmm,” said everyone. ”Yummy,” said Darius. ”Julian,” whispered Dick, under his breath. “What about the monster?” “Nah, don’t talk about it,” said Julian, under his breath. “It might spoil Ruby’s birthday.” After the birthday, everyone was sent to bed.While they were sleeping, someone took Anne…

Chapter 7:Anne’s disappearance

Ring ring!Ring ring!Andy’s alarm clock had gone off. ”Anne?” “Anne?” said Andy. ”Anne, where are you?” She climbed up Anne’s bed.To her surprise, Anne was not there!”Dad!” “Mum!” “Anne’s not there!” she screamed while running downstairs.”What's going on?!” said Mum.”Anne’s gone!”Andy replied.

“What!” said Mum. “It’s TRUE!” Andy cried. ”We need to tell this to the others.” said Mum sternly.”Okay,”said Andy.Ding dong!Ding dong!Dingdong!It was breakfast time!”Guys, I have something to tell you,” said Mum, while they were eating. “Come see me in the hall at eleven twenty.” Time went fast.When they were all at the hall, Mum told  the message. “Guys, something mysterious has happened….”

Chapter 8:The message

“Anne’s gone!” said Mum. “WHAT!!” cried everyone else.”Guys,” said Julian. “Calm down.” “We just need to find clues.” “That's the only thing we need to do.” “Okay?” “Who’s with me?” “I am!” said everyone at once. “Let’s do it!” said Julian. “Okay.” “First thing to do is to find when Anne was taken.” “So guys, when did we go to sleep?” “Eleven o’clock!” shouted Ben from behind. “Right!” said Julian. “And when did we wake up?” “Six o’clock!” shouted Ben again. “Actually guys, did you know that I woke up at three o’clock?” said Andy. “No,” 

said Julian.”SO THEN SHE WAS TOOK BETWEEN ONE O’CLOCK AND THREE O’CLOCK!!!” shouted Ben, very, very, very loudly. “Shhhhhhhh Ben!”said Julian.”Why are you shouting so loudly?!” “Sorry,” said Ben. “Okay,” said Julian. “Let’s go up to the bedroom.” They went up. “Hmmm,” said Julian. “We’ve got some investigating to do.” “HEY GUYS, LOOK…AT…THIS!” said Julia, holding a tiny scroll. “Well done,Julia!” said Julian, giving her a thumbs up. “Give it to me, Julia,” said Dick. Julia gave the tiny scroll to Dick. “It says here… I am Lord Voldemort…I am the best wizard ever!...Um, who is Lord Voldemort and what does he want with us?” said Dick. “Must be an evil wizard of some kind,” said Julian. “Hey guys, look at this,” said Zane. It was Sinhala.None of the children knew Sinhala, except Zane. They were all Sri Lankan. “It’s weird because I can't make it  out either,”said Zane.  “Look at this,” said  Julian. He pointed to the part that Zane couldn’t understand. It said: MA GAWATA ENNA. “I think it says…come to me?” said Julian. “Let’s check it on the Google Sinhala Translator,” said Zane. “When did we ever have an app like that!” demanded Julian.  “I made it,” said Zane. “Let me switch it on and type it in. He pressed a button that said:ZANE’S CHROMEBOOK’S SPECIAL ABILITIES. Then there were lots of buttons to choose from. Zane pressed one of the buttons. Then a box came up on the screen of Zane’s chromebook saying GOOGLE SINHALA TRANSLATOR.Then he typed into the search box saying MA GAWA TA ENNA.Then something strange happened.

Then the words changed.

TRANSLATE:COME TO ME

“The rest says TO BATTLE,” said Zane looking at the chromebook again because he had translated it. “So it says…come to me to battle.” “Good job Zane!” said Julian, thumping him on the back. “So let’s get this adventure started!” shouted everyone.

   

Chapter 9: The beginning of the adventure

Everyone had packed their bags to go out. “Hooray!” said Julian, happily. Now they were going to get Anne and then everything would be back to normal. “C’mon, we need to get this adventure started!” said Dick. “Wait!” cried everyone else. “Be patient, Dick!” “Great,” said Dick, under his breath. Dick was sometimes so inpatient."OK,everyone, ready for an adventure.?"

"Yes,"cried everyone.So everyone set off into the purple horizion.Soon came the night came."Where are going to sleep,Julian?"asked everyone."Um..."said Julian-"Hey look,a portal!"someone cried.There actually was a mysterious, purple portal.So everyone stepped into it.

                                                        Chapter 10: Portal

Everyone appeared in some places."What's going on?"Said Julian, Then a monster appeared,"EEK!"shrieked Anne.
