Camping with my family

Camping with my family

During the days of Friday the 15th, Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th, my family went on a fun camping trip. It was full with exciting events, disgusting bathrooms and shining lights around the campsite. Overall, it was quite unpredictable and joyful.

DAY ONE- FRIDAY THE 15TH

We arrived there around 1:20 pm and started to set up the tents. My brother, Sudu, and I both played soccer with Diyon, another young boy, while the two girls, Kiara and Ellie, both set off to explore our busy campsite. They first put up the large tent, which was then reclaimed as the 'kitchen', a storage area for our food and a place to cook and create delicious meals.

The scorching sun continued to burn through the day on the horizon, as the adults started to put up the family tents. I had a little peek in our one. To me, it seemed quite small from the outside, but with an inside glance, it looked quite big. We also then saw the 'kid's tent', a tent to keep all our toys, books and other sources of entertainment.

Soon, the sun settled behind the towering mountains and it became a quiet and cool evening with a soft breeze. Suddenly, there were lights flashing around the tents, for it had become night, and somehow we had to see, using headlights and torches. Later, I was warming my hands around a crackling fire. We needed it to roast our dinner and eat melted marshmallows.

I then went to the bathrooms to have a shower and get into my pyjamas It was disgusting, but I got through it. Then we ate yummy hot dogs covered in ketchup and barbecue sauce.

I then was biting into a cooked marshmallow cookie. It was so sticky! I refused the rest of it. There was way too much goo! Soon, I was diving under the covers of my camping bed. I kissed my parents and then closed my eyes, going to dream about a brilliant day tomorrow.

DAY TWO- SATURDAY THE 16TH

I woke up after Ellie and Sudu, which was weird, since normally I wake up before Sudu. I guess I felt sleepy from the joyful night before.

The sun was shining as me and Sudu ran around the field behind the tents. Soon, my teeth were crunching a scrumptious pancake. Mummy decided that she would be making sandwiches with egg, for the pancakes took a looooooong time to make. Later, I was biting into yolk-coated egg and bread.

After that, I went to have another shower. This one seemed a little better than the first one. Gratefully, I emerged out of the bathrooms, ready to start an exciting day.

I requested to my dad that we play cricket, for we had brought a tennis ball and wooden bat. It was very eventful, and I made a catch. Then we did this game where we all would get out in a spread out circle. Then someone would the throw the ball towards the batsman, and they would hit it to another person. This game is useful for it practices your awareness and hand-eye coordination.

After a little while, we went down to river constantly flowing beside us, and dived in. Well, I did, but some adults didn't feel like getting their feet down the rocky surface and into the freezing water. It was impossible to sit, though! One time, I accidentally threw my croc to a strong current. Sudu lunged for it, then grabbed the slipper, but was nearly swept away. The only reason he didn't get dragged down the river was because Pasan Mama, my aunt's cousin brother, caught him and pulled him out.

Then we went back up the grassy hill, soaked and dripping with water. Then we had another grotesque wash, but I managed to endure it. Soon, the stars twinkled across the grassy ground, illuminating the five children striding below them.

I continued to read my book. The kid's tent seemed to be a little wet, so I sat in my comfy chair and peacefully looked over the words. That night we had burgers with a choice of chicken or beef patty. I had a beef patty one, and it tasted amazing! After I had finished my burger, Isuru Uncle, my cousin's best friend's father, questioned me about the book I was reading, so I started a long but interesting ramble about the KEEPER OF THE LOST CITIES, the title of the story.

Then, I was tiredly scrambling into the mattress, feeling a little sad about tomorrow was the last day.

DAY THREE-SUNDAY THE 15TH

Finally, I woke up and started playing a game of soccer with Sudu. Soon, I was consuming a egg sandwich and a delicious piece of crisp bacon. Then, we devoured a chocolate chip muffin. But I realized that I had lost my two headed toy dragon! Sadly, I got into the car and settled in as Thaththi drove us off to the bathrooms.

Once we returned, I saw the camp was plunged into chaos! Some families were tugging down reluctant tents and others were bundling luggage into their cars. I checked with Diyon that he hadn't got ahold of my dragon, for he loved dragons and dinosaurs! Diyon kept repeating stubbornly that he hadn't the dragon into his car, and soon I was trundling off to my car to read my book, disappointed and miserable.

After and while, I jumped out of the car. The adults were gathered in a circle, and I saw my father holding

"See you all another day!" Diyon's father shouted. Then I was squished in the car with the luggage as we drove back something in his hand. I squealed at the sight of my toy dragon! home, with Ellie's car in front, with Sudu inside for there was no space in our car. We stopped at the same McDonald's we did when coming to camp, and I ate another Big Mac meal.

Later, we arrived back home and Ellie's family dropped off Sudu before heading towards their home.

The only thing I could think as I stumbled through the doorway was, What a fun camp!

HAPPY CAMPING TIMES!
