Heroes

John was with his friends when a storm hit. It blew the trees and whipped up the waves. Suddenly, the waves grew higher, reaching for the sky. “Oh no!” John cried to his friends. Before he could even run, the waves were eating up the sandy beach.

The water dissolved the sand, then came for the people. Everyone screamed, throwing whatever they had in their hands.

John was swept away easily by the powerful waves. He looked up and saw a palm tree curving down towards him. “Help!” John shouted.

As the tree crashed down on him, two arms grabbed him by the shoulders and clutched them. They threw him out off the tree's way as it crashed into the sea. John slowly felt the aches in his arms and legs. Slowly, he closed his eyes and drifted away.

He woke up on the sand with Jack, his best friend staring. He realized that Jack was the one that saved him.

Now he always called Jack his hero.
