The gate
Doug was waiting for his appointment with the detective in
the Saint detective center. His younger sister had vanished one morning and he
had no idea why. As a young 13-year-old, it seemed like he was too young to
find her, but he was determined to. Finally, the clock ticked four o’clock and
he was welcomed politely. “Sit down,” the detective told him, pointing to the
chair. As soon as he plopped down, the detective vanished into a world of blue.
Suddenly, the world went black, plunging him into darkness.
He opened his eyes and saw his body lying on the grass. Doug
stood up nervously, hoping he was not in danger. In front of him lay a black
polished gate. There was a key stuck inside the keyhole, radiating a mysterious
feeling. Doug opened the gate and stepped back as they opened slowly.
An army of robots came marching out, one of them holding his
sister in its arms. Doug felt a familiar surge of anger. His eyes blazed with
rage as the robot holding her came near. This was why he hated technology!
Before he could leap onto the robot, his arms were twisted behind him and a
blindfold fell over his eyes.
He woke up in a dark, deserted building, his body tied to a tight
chair. Two glowing eyes glared at him through the darkness, piercing his
nerves. “Where is it?” a voice rasped, frightening him. He saw his sister tied
next to him. “Help!” she whispered into his ear. “Help!”
Doug’s body started to shake. He realized he was kidnapped
by robots. “Where is it?” the voice repeated, scaring him even more. “I don’t
know,” he muttered into the darkness. BOOM! The chair crashed to the floor,
freeing him. “Run!” a strong voice commanded. He tried to, but there was
suddenly a hard blow landing on his head.
He woke up on a comfy bed, only to find his parents celebrating.
“What happened?” he questioned his parents, frowning with confusion. “Those robots were evil. They wanted to
destroy humanity.” his sister told him. “We
finally attacked them. Turns out, we were sleeping for 5 days.” Doug cried, “Hooray!” and threw his plaster
into the air. He joined in with the celebrations but made a mental not to go
venturing through a gate again, just because if he was curious.
