The Gate

The shining gates stretched tall before him, the black polish glimmering in the sunlight. Today was the day John’s career started. The gates slowly opened, showing the gleaming rocket planted on the grass. He sprinted toward it, his eyes flashing with delight. Then, a voice called out, stopping him in his tracks. “John!”

John quickly spun around, only to find the excited director running toward him with a face full of joy. She instantly led him into the rocket, full of gadgets and machinery he had never seen. “You’re part of the astronauts going into space.”  John felt like he had just become a hero. A trip into space was bound to be astounding.

He was then escorted to the centre, to prepare his equipment and gear to fit him. That included being in special rooms to test his space suit. When he was in the rocket, getting his things ready for take-off, the machine suddenly blasted the engine, sending the rocket flying into space.

John quickly was frightened and anxious, but he was fascinated by the stars twinkling with a glimmer of hope. Suddenly the rocket landed, sending him toppling into the below. When he woke up, he realized the rocket was malfunctioning, which was why the rocket took off without being given a signal.

The rocket groaned and started to slow down, then it was just floating into space. John tried to fix it. With a few sparks coming out of the broken engine, he succeeded, so the rocket was sent off with a BOOM! As he was coming near earth, he saw many police officers standing ready, waiting impatiently for the rocket to come down.

When the rocket landed, John was quickly led out of the rocket, treated like a hero. He then planted himself firmly on the grass and cried, “I’m never leaving my home ever again.”
